Termidesk, a brand under Uveon Cloud Technologies and part of Astra Group, has released guidelines for maintaining fault-tolerant corporate applications across geographically distributed sites. The company suggests integrating private data centers with various cloud providers using global server load balancing (GSLB).
To implement these scenarios, Termidesk offers its Termidesk Connect application delivery controller. The solution supports GSLB, allowing traffic to be automatically redirected to functional sites if a primary data center fails. This approach avoids vendor lock-in by enabling hybrid infrastructure configurations.
The company outlines four key requirements for fault tolerance: maintaining data currency with defined Recovery Point Objective (RPO) targets, ensuring automatic failover within Recovery Time Objective (RTO) limits, verifying sufficient resource capacity for peak loads, and conducting regular failure testing.
Termidesk emphasizes that global load balancing complements, rather than replaces, data replication and application redundancy. Organizations must ensure that backup sites have current data and enough capacity before configuring traffic distribution rules.
Until December 31, 2026, Termidesk is offering geographical load balancing features within the Termidesk Connect platform at no additional cost.
