TCL has filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics America in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The plaintiff alleges that Samsung is engaging in false advertising by labeling certain budget Crystal UHD television models as Mini LED products.
According to the complaint, these specific Samsung models do not meet the technical standards expected of Mini LED technology and are comparable to standard LED televisions. TCL claims that this misleading branding has allowed Samsung to gain an unfair competitive advantage in the market.
TCL reports that sales of the disputed Samsung models increased approximately fourfold in less than three months following their release. This surge in sales has negatively impacted TCL, which had previously led the US Mini LED market between 2023 and 2025.
The lawsuit seeks an injunction to block Samsung from selling or advertising these specific models as Mini LED in the United States. Additionally, TCL is pursuing financial compensation for damages resulting from the alleged deceptive marketing practices.
