The foldable iPhone Duo has entered the market with strong demand, though early user feedback highlights both successes and challenges. While customers appreciate the split-screen capabilities and display quality, some report issues with app compatibility, button placement, and the fingerprint authentication system.
Concerns regarding device reliability have emerged due to reports of spontaneous display damage and high repair costs. Apple has already replaced several units that developed cracks on the internal screen. The company is expected to refine its hinge mechanism, support structures, and assembly processes to address these mechanical stresses.
According to TrendForce, global shipments of foldable smartphones are projected to grow by 0.5% in 2026. Apple is expected to ship approximately 5 million units of the iPhone Duo this year, capturing a 24.8% market share. By 2027, this share is forecast to rise to 29.8%.
The device features a foldable OLED screen designed to minimize the visible crease through a multi-layer structure and a teardrop hinge mechanism. Apple aims to improve productivity by optimizing software for the larger display, focusing on better multitasking and AI-driven content management.
