Tata Motors is set to launch the Aeris sedan on September 25, replacing the decade-old Tata Tigor model. The new vehicle is a heavily updated version of its predecessor rather than a completely new design, featuring revised LED headlights, sportier bumper intakes, and redesigned taillights.
The Aeris maintains the compact dimensions of the Tigor, measuring 3,995 mm in length. It is expected to retain existing powertrain options, including a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 85 hp and a bi-fuel CNG variant with 74 hp. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic gearbox.
The company plans to offer a zero-emission version to succeed the Tigor EV. Pricing for the new sedan is expected to remain consistent with the outgoing model, which ranges from $6,000 to $9,500. The Aeris will compete in the Indian market against the Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze.
