SWI Group has secured €800 million from institutional investors to expand its AI infrastructure across Europe and the United States. This funding follows the company's acquisition of the bitcoin miner Genesis Digital Assets. According to TheEnergyMag, the deal values SWI at €6.1 billion, bringing the total equity capital raised by the firm since March 2026 to over €1 billion.

The company's strategy involves repurposing existing bitcoin mining sites for high-performance computing and AI tasks. In August, SWI acquired a controlling stake of over 70% in Genesis Digital Assets, now rebranded as SWI Digital. While the group reports a digital infrastructure portfolio exceeding 4 GW, this figure includes planned capacities and grid connections rather than operational AI clusters.

SWI plans to offer its US-based sites and grid connections to major cloud providers and is developing its own cloud platform to provide GPU computing services. Meanwhile, three smaller mining farms in Kazakhstan have been put up for sale. The company is also continuing the development of its European AI platform, AiOnX.

Genesis Digital Assets was previously linked to the collapse of the FTX exchange, as Alameda Research invested approximately $1.15 billion into the business between 2021 and 2022. Following a legal dispute over these funds, the FTX Recovery Trust withdrew all claims in June 2026, the same day SWI announced an initial $500 million investment in the mining firm.
