A joint study by the Sodruzhestvo platform and Finansy Mail, conducted from September 7 to 18, 2026, surveyed over 12,000 Russians aged 16 and older. The data indicates that 55% of respondents encountered cybercriminals in the last six months, though 85.88% reported no financial losses.
Among those who suffered losses, 4.83% lost less than 50,000 ₽, while 1.94% lost between 50,000 ₽ and 500,000 ₽. Only 1% reported losses exceeding 500,000 ₽. Additionally, 0.42% of participants took out large loans due to fraud, and 0.29% lost property.
To protect their assets, 44.31% of respondents use two-factor authentication, and 42.72% have set up self-imposed loan bans via Gosuslugi. Despite these risks, 62.82% of participants do not intend to enroll in financial security training courses within the next year.
Official government websites are the primary source of financial security information for 55.73% of users. Meanwhile, 40.55% of respondents attribute financial losses among the youth to a frivolous attitude toward money, while 28.33% point to a lack of financial literacy.
