Russian Post has expanded the functionality of its parcel lockers, allowing customers to collect official correspondence from government agencies such as the traffic police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Federal Tax Service. This service eliminates the need to interact with a postal clerk, reducing the collection process to just a few seconds.
To use the service, customers receive a push notification or SMS containing a collection code and the storage period for the item. If a recipient has multiple letters or packages, the system consolidates them into a single locker compartment. The service is available to users whose phone numbers were provided at the time of shipment.
According to Maxim Tsypin, First Deputy General Director of Russian Post, the company is actively shifting services from manual processing to automated alternatives. Since the beginning of 2026, customers have collected over 1.5 million items through the locker network. The service is currently operational in more than 3,100 post offices.
The integration of letters and small packages into the locker system began in August 2026. Prior to this update, the automated terminals were restricted to handling only standard parcels. Customers can access these items independently during the standard operating hours of the respective post office branches.
