The YouTube channel ShortCircuit, part of Linus Media Group, accidentally published a hands-on video of the Steam Frame device before quickly removing it. Despite the deletion, segments of the footage have circulated on social media, revealing details about the hardware accessories and power supply.
The video covered the first 30 minutes of user interaction with the device, including unboxing, initial setup, and fit testing. While the final price of the Steam Frame remains unconfirmed by Valve, the video disclosed that an optional ergonomic accessory kit will be sold separately for $60.
This accessory bundle includes an additional headset strap and controller straps. Regarding the hardware design, the controllers utilize replaceable batteries, marking a departure from the built-in rechargeable battery system found in the Valve Index controllers.
Valve has been actively updating the Steam backend packages and recently released a stable version of SteamVR. Although industry insiders previously suggested a potential launch date of September 14, Valve has not officially confirmed this timeline.
