Beeline Kazakhstan has launched the Direct to Cell service in partnership with Starlink Mobile. This technology enables standard smartphones to connect directly to satellites in areas lacking traditional cellular coverage. The project received support from the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.

The service eliminates the need for specialized hardware, such as satellite phones or external antennas. During the initial promotional period, Beeline Kazakhstan is offering the service at no cost to its customers. Users can currently send and receive SMS messages and access a limited range of basic internet services.

Direct to Cell is designed to complement terrestrial networks rather than replace them. It is intended for use in remote locations like mountains, steppes, and highways, as well as during emergencies when ground infrastructure is damaged. A clear view of the sky is required for a stable connection.

The launch follows a series of tests that began in late 2025. Kazakhstan is now the first country in Central Asia to transition the technology from testing to a commercial service. Currently, support is limited to compatible Android smartphones, with plans to expand compatibility to other operating systems in the future.
