The Russian company Sputnix is developing new Earth remote sensing satellites aiming for a spatial resolution of 0.5 meters. According to CEO Georgy Alyoshkin, these future devices will be capable of identifying objects the size of a car, including their dimensions and color.
The immediate goal is the launch of the Kinosputnik satellite. This upcoming device features a camera capable of multispectral and panchromatic imaging, providing a resolution of 0.8 meters. This mission serves as a technical step toward the 0.5-meter target.
Sputnix is expanding its satellite constellation to serve both government and commercial clients. The company intends to utilize the collected data for the development of digital twins, which are virtual models designed to monitor real-world conditions and processes.
The company has already initiated pilot projects in collaboration with entities under AFK Sistema. These current efforts focus on applications within the telecommunications and forestry sectors.
