The China Beidou Outdoor Sports Event Management System was officially launched on October 16 at the 2026 Outdoor Sports Industry Conference. Developed by the General Administration of Sport of China and China Satellite Network Group, the system utilizes the Beidou satellite positioning and short-message communication technology to monitor events in remote areas without public network coverage.

The system consists of demonstration terminals and a management platform. It creates a closed-loop process involving data collection via terminals, satellite transmission, platform scheduling, and emergency rescue. This setup allows for real-time tracking of athletes and equipment, risk warning, and millisecond-level identification of hazards, addressing communication gaps in complex terrains.

Participants wear Beidou-enabled terminals that link their identity to the device. During events, these terminals connect directly to the Beidou satellite network. In an emergency, a one-touch SOS feature sends precise location, identity, and status data to management platforms. Post-event, the system provides data storage and analysis capabilities.

Following the launch, the system will undergo a three-month trial period. Initial deployment includes three provincial-level monitoring platforms in Hebei, Xinjiang, and Zhejiang, alongside three project-specific centers for water sports, mountaineering, and aviation. A nationwide rollout is scheduled to begin in 2027.
