Elon Musk stated that SpaceX could reach a valuation of $100 trillion within 10 years, provided no major world war occurs. This forecast follows a prediction by Baron Capital founder Ron Baron, who estimated the company's value could reach $50 trillion. As of October 14, the market value of SpaceX stood at $2.07 trillion.
Ron Baron bases his valuation on the growth of Starlink, which he expects to reach $14–15 trillion, and the development of orbital data centers. SpaceX's own IPO filing notes that these initiatives involve unproven technologies and significant technical complexity, with no guarantee of commercial viability.
Financial reports indicate that only the Starlink division generated an operating profit last quarter. Meanwhile, the AI division invested $15.8 billion in infrastructure. Reports suggest the company is seeking an additional $40 billion in debt to finance the purchase of Nvidia chips.
Following reports of debt plans, SpaceX's five-year credit default swaps rose to 194 basis points, compared to 110 basis points in June. Insuring $1 million of the company's debt now costs approximately $19,400 annually. Despite these figures, SpaceX maintains an investment-grade BBB rating.
