SpaceX is developing the Star Mind satellite constellation, which will feature AI1 orbital computing nodes. Each satellite will be equipped with solar panels capable of generating over 250 kW of power, which is approximately 20% more than the total capacity of the International Space Station.
The AI1 satellites will have a wingspan exceeding 75 meters. For comparison, previous SpaceX satellite models have shown significant growth: Starlink V1.5 spans about 11 meters, V2 Mini reaches 30 meters, and V3 measures approximately 60 meters.
Each unit is designed to house an Nvidia Rubin NVL72 rack, containing 72 Rubin GPUs and Vera processors. The system will maintain an average power output of 160–210 kW, with liquid radiators used for cooling and laser links for connectivity with the Starlink network.
SpaceX plans to launch prototypes using the Starship rocket in early 2027. The company aims to begin serial production by the end of 2027, with a target capacity of 30–50 satellites per flight. The satellites will operate in sun-synchronous orbits.
