SpaceX has secured $40 billion in debt financing to fund the acquisition of GPUs. According to Elon Musk, the company leveraged its investment-grade status and consistent revenue streams from its Starlink and space launch divisions to finalize the deal.

The borrowed capital is primarily designated for callable debt to cover hardware deliveries scheduled for the first and second quarters of 2027. This financial move occurs as the company prepares for significant capital expenditures, with projections for the fourth quarter of 2026 reaching between $35 billion and $40 billion.

The proposed debt package, which was initially outlined earlier this month, reportedly includes $10 billion in bank loans alongside $30 billion in investment-grade debt. While the financing is now closed, the specific GPU models and exact quantities covered by the agreement remain unconfirmed.

This initiative aligns with the broader expansion of AI computing capacity. SpaceX has already established infrastructure partnerships, including a deal with Google that involves monthly payments of $920 million for access to approximately 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, running from October 2026 through June 2029.
