SpaceX subsidiary MZX, which operates the Colossus II data center, is offering to purchase 418 homes near its facility. The company intends to use these properties to house staff as it expands operations to support the Grok AI project.

A condition for the buyout is that residents must sign an agreement to drop their participation in an ongoing class-action lawsuit. The legal action concerns noise pollution caused by unpermitted turbines at the Colossus I and II sites.

The company has pledged to remove all unpermitted turbines within one year, coinciding with the launch of its 1.2-gigawatt power plant. SpaceX denies the noise allegations, stating it has installed sound-dampening walls and adjusted power output.

Local officials report that noise levels have not exceeded the 70-decibel limit set by city ordinances. However, residents continue to report persistent, loud sounds that disrupt sleep, leading some to accept the buyout offers to relocate.
