SpaceX has released a promotional video depicting the capture of the Starship vehicle using the Mechazilla launch tower. The footage was generated by artificial intelligence ahead of the upcoming flight test scheduled for November.
Elon Musk confirmed that the 15th flight mission will attempt to catch both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship spacecraft. Musk described this maneuver as a critical milestone for achieving full reusability of the orbital launch system.
The company estimates a high probability of success for the first attempt. If the November mission fails, SpaceX plans to conduct additional Starship test flights before the end of the year.
In September, the Ship 42 vehicle was placed in a simulated capture position on launch pad 2 to test the tower's mechanical arms. Following these tests, the engines were removed for further cryogenic evaluations.
