Sony China has unveiled a new wireless fall detection system designed for elderly care at the 9th China International Import Expo. The system operates by monitoring Wi-Fi signal fluctuations to identify human movement, eliminating the need for cameras or wearable devices.

The technology functions by analyzing channel state information (CSI) derived from Wi-Fi signals. When the system detects a fall through deep learning algorithms, it triggers immediate audio-visual alerts on-site or sends notifications via a mobile application or mini-program.

The hardware configuration consists of a Wi-Fi transmitter, a receiver, and a data processor. By avoiding image capture, the system addresses privacy concerns in sensitive areas like bedrooms and bathrooms while supporting the detection of various fall types, including slips.

Developed locally by the Sony China Research Institute, the system is intended for use in homes, nursing facilities, and medical institutions. It is currently undergoing pilot testing in Shanghai to verify its operational stability and detection accuracy in real-world environments.
