Sony has secured a new patent, US-12752199-B2, titled Adaptive Screen Sharing Pointers and Reactions During Gameplay. The application was filed in October 2023 and officially granted on October 6, 2026. The technology introduces an interactive system allowing viewers to influence a streamer's gaming environment directly.

The system enables viewers to move a cursor across the screen to highlight objectives, such as boss weaknesses or shooting locations. While viewers cannot control the main character, they can place stickers, send sounds, or trigger haptic feedback on the streamer's controller, headset, or mobile device.

Beyond simple indicators, the patent details mechanisms for viewers to alter the game world, such as building temporary bridges or manipulating in-game objects. These actions can reveal hidden paths or items, directly impacting the streamer's progress.

The platform is designed to be cross-compatible, extending beyond PlayStation to include Microsoft and Nintendo consoles, as well as smart TVs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Streamers retain control over these interactions, with the ability to authorize specific users, set permissions, or disable inputs during cutscenes.
