Sony has released the MDR-3R wired headphones, which feature a design inspired by the classic MDR-3L2 model. The new version weighs 38 grams and utilizes 23mm drivers. The package includes removable foam pads in blue and orange.
The headphones connect via a 1.2-meter USB-C cable, replacing the traditional 3.5mm jack. The cable includes an inline remote with a built-in microphone. The device is priced at $60.
In comparison, the Moondrop Old Fashioned headphones are available for $25. The Sony MDR-3R model lacks noise isolation due to its on-ear design, which allows ambient sound to pass through during use.
The built-in microphone performs well in quiet indoor environments, though audio quality can be muffled or distorted when used outdoors near traffic. The device does not include a portable music player.
