Sollers has launched the assembly of a 1.5-liter gasoline turbocharged engine at its plant in Yelabuga. The unit produces 136 horsepower and is currently being produced on the same assembly line used for 2.0-liter and 2.7-liter diesel engines. To date, several hundred units have been manufactured, all intended for Sollers SF1 vans and minivans.
The engine, identified as the JAC HFC4GB24D, features an all-aluminum construction with a sleeved cylinder block, turbocharging, and a chain-driven timing system. It is designed to run on 92-octane gasoline and meets Euro-5 emission standards. The version assembled by Sollers includes specific modifications compared to the variant currently used in the Moskvich 3.
The company plans to deepen localization by producing cylinder block and head castings at its Zavolzhye facility. These components will then be processed on an automated line in Yelabuga. Future localization efforts depend on the readiness of domestic suppliers to produce components such as spark plugs, pistons, and connecting rods.
Sollers is open to supplying these engines to other Russian automakers. Potential partners include Moskvich, which aims to increase the local content of its vehicles, and AvtoVAZ, which may require a modern turbocharged gasoline engine for its future model lineup.
