European startup SiPearl has delivered the first batch of its Rhea1 processor samples to Bull, a key partner in the supercomputing sector. This shipment marks a significant milestone for the company as it prepares for its first major revenue recognition.
The Rhea1 chips are destined for the JUPITER supercomputer, which is currently being installed in Germany. Bull is already integrating these processors into its BullSequana XH3000 platform to support the facility's exascale computing capabilities.
Technically, the Rhea1 is manufactured using TSMC's 6nm process node. It features 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores, each equipped with two 256-bit SVE units. The processor also includes four 16GB HBM memory stacks and supports four DDR5 memory channels with 2DPC.
The architecture of the Rhea1 is designed for high-performance computing environments, offering 104 PCIe Gen5 lanes for extensive connectivity. This hardware configuration is intended to meet the demanding requirements of modern supercomputing infrastructure.
