The Sextant project, a desktop Kubernetes client built on Rust and Tauri 2, released 13 versions between 0.20.0 and 0.25.5 in one week. The updates introduced support for OpenShift, OLM, k3s, RKE2, vcluster, and Cluster API, alongside new features for monitoring and resource management.

The latest releases integrated external contributions from the community, including table filters, sidebar settings, and a fix for Windows. An external pull request also optimized memory usage, reducing the footprint per tracked object by approximately five times.

New functionality includes alert management from Prometheus and Alertmanager, log retrieval from Loki, and Grafana dashboard integration. The client now supports mass actions on selected rows, improved search across all columns, and allows operation in environments where users lack permissions to list namespaces.

Sextant features an embedded MCP server for AI agents, with version 0.25.5 adding tools for restricted RBAC environments. These updates allow agents to operate within defined namespace limits and provide better visibility into access rights and resource availability without requiring cluster-wide listing privileges.

The project remains free, open-source, and telemetry-free. Its codebase is generated using Claude Code, with human-led architecture and review processes. The development roadmap for the recent cycle covered GPU support, AI/ML integration, GitOps actions, and various network policy tools.
