Sequoia Capital announced a major restructuring in a memo titled The Sequoia of Tomorrow. The firm has raised approximately $10 billion in new funds and is shifting its focus back to a smaller, more centralized operation based in the Bay Area, reversing two decades of geographical and structural expansion.
The firm is closing its London office, which opened in 2020, and shutting down its Arc accelerator and Scouts program. These initiatives were designed to provide early-stage support and source deals through external networks, but the firm now aims to concentrate its energy on fewer projects and founders.
Internal operations are also undergoing significant changes. Sequoia is merging its early-stage and growth teams into a single unit and eliminating the traditional Monday partner meeting. The firm has flattened its partnership structure, which now consists of seven general partners who own and operate the organization.
Personnel shifts include the return of former Workday CEO Carl Eschenbach as a full-time partner and the departure of investor Stephanie Zahn. Additionally, Jess Lee has transitioned from her role overseeing the Arc program to become the firm's chief product officer.
