Scuba, formally known as Flashback AI Inc., has secured $34 million in funding across two investment rounds. The financing was led by Accel, with additional participation from IVP, BoxGroup, Conviction, Homebrew, and Scribble Ventures. The company also attracted backing from angel investors, including co-founders of Salesforce, Dropbox, and Stripe.

Founded last year by former Slack executive Noah Desai Weiss and former The Browser Company engineering lead Dolapo Falola, the startup provides a productivity service described as a context engine. The platform is designed to store data for both human teams and AI agents, aiming to improve information retrieval and the quality of AI-generated outputs.

The platform includes a feature called Capture, which allows users to save work-related information via a browser extension or iPhone app. It supports various inputs, including text, screenshots, and audio notes up to 90 minutes long. Uploaded data is organized into thematic repositories known as Collections, which do not require manual editing.

Scuba utilizes AI to generate daily summaries called Briefings, which track changes and trends within Collections. Users can connect these repositories to external AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Slack through an MCP server. This integration allows AI models to access relevant context without manual file management.

The company plans to allocate the newly raised capital toward accelerating its engineering development and expanding its go-to-market operations.
