Sberbank has launched a nationwide service allowing customers to receive inherited funds remotely. Users no longer need to visit a bank branch or present paper certificates to access their inheritance.
To use the service, customers must process the inheritance through a notary and then select the 'Receive Inheritance' option in the SberBank Online application. The process requires granting permission to transfer an electronic certificate from the Gosuslugi portal to the bank.
Once the document is verified, the user specifies an account for the transfer, and funds are credited instantly. The bank confirmed there are no restrictions on the inheritance amount or the number of heirs involved in the process.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development, the Bank of Russia, and the Federal Notary Chamber. It utilizes machine-readable inheritance certificates transmitted via the citizen's Digital Profile.
The service was first piloted in Moscow on April 20, followed by testing in the Rostov and Primorsky regions before its nationwide rollout. Currently, 1.6 million Sberbank customers use the Digital Profile system monthly for various financial operations.
