Samsung is planning a significant display upgrade for its upcoming Galaxy S27 series. According to ETNews, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature new OLED panels based on the M16 material, marking the first such update in three years.
The M16 material offers improved peak brightness, energy efficiency, color accuracy, and a longer lifespan. This technology is also utilized in the iPhone 18 Pro display panels. Additionally, the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra models will incorporate Color Filter-on-Encapsulation and integrated Privacy Display technology.
The standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ models will transition to M14 material panels, replacing the M13 material used in current devices. The reported screen sizes for the lineup are 6.27 inches for the S27, 6.66 inches for the S27+, 6.47 inches for the S27 Pro, and 6.89 inches for the S27 Ultra.
The company plans to expand the use of M16 OLED panels to its foldable devices in the second half of 2027. The Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, and Z Fold 9 Ultra will adopt this technology, replacing the M13 panels found in the current generation of foldable smartphones.
