Samsung Electronics has confirmed the timeline for its semiconductor manufacturing expansion in Taylor, Texas. According to Jon Taylor, head of the company's Austin and Taylor facilities, construction of the second wafer fab, known as Fab 2, is scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The first facility in the Taylor cluster, Fab 1, remains on track to become operational within 2026. The plant has been undergoing equipment installation since this spring and has now entered the validation phase. Most gas and chemical systems are currently active, and installed equipment is already running.

During a media event, the executive also addressed the company's partnership with Tesla. He expressed gratitude for Tesla's orders and clarified that Elon Musk's Terafab initiative will not impact the existing business agreement between the two companies.
