Samsung Electronics has initiated additional equipment procurement for its first semiconductor fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas. The new machinery will add a monthly production capacity of 6,000 wafers to the facility.

The Taylor plant was originally designed for a total monthly output of 20,000 wafers. Samsung plans to gradually install the new equipment starting at the end of this year, aiming to reach the full design capacity by the second half of 2027.

In addition to the first facility, Samsung Foundry is scheduled to begin construction on a second wafer plant in Taylor this November. The company expects this new project to commence production by 2030, expanding its advanced manufacturing footprint in the United States.
