Samsung Display has unveiled its most advanced OLED screen for smartphones, which utilizes the new M16 luminescent material. This technology allows the display to achieve a peak brightness of 10,000 cd/m2.

The new M16 OLED panels have already been implemented in Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo models. Among Android devices, the iQOO 16, which was officially announced in China, is the first to feature this display technology.

The M16 panel is part of the Samsung Display LEAD 2.0 series. It offers a WQHD resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels and supports LTPO technology with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 165 Hz.

Key technical specifications include a global peak brightness of 2,800 cd/m2 and a 1.24-fold coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The panel also features a 3,300 Hz PWM dimming frequency and a 5,000 Hz touch sampling rate.

The display utilizes OCF technology, which removes the traditional polarizing layer, and provides an anti-reflective coating. Additionally, the new panel design reduces power consumption by 30 percent compared to the previous generation.

Samsung plans to integrate the M16 OLED panels into its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, which are scheduled for release in early 2027.
