The Veynrel plugin for Obsidian introduces a multi-stage workflow to identify similar notes and safely modify Markdown files. The process separates semantic search, AI-driven recommendations, and the actual file modification into distinct steps to prevent data loss or incorrect edits.
The system uses a catalog of text fragments with unique identifiers to validate AI suggestions. Before any changes are made, the plugin verifies that the AI-provided quotes exist in the source files. If an ID is invalid or belongs to a different note, the recommendation is rejected.
To ensure safety during file updates, the plugin employs a planner that validates link paths against Obsidian metadata. Before applying changes, the system generates a diff for user confirmation. It also checks the file state immediately before writing to ensure that no manual edits were made while the diff was being reviewed.
The plugin includes an undo mechanism that verifies the current file state against the previously recorded 'after' state. If a user has modified the file after the plugin's action, the automatic undo is blocked to prevent overwriting new content. These safety protocols were tested in Veynrel version 2.2.1.
