VAS Experts maintains a technical documentation wiki based on DokuWiki, containing approximately 1,460 pages in Russian and 654 in English. The company has developed 10 custom plugins to address specific needs, including language synchronization, user feedback, and data integration.
The translation management plugin uses a neural network to compare Russian and English pages via JSON-RPC. It assigns a status to each pair based on a similarity score, where 95% or higher is marked as current. A manual override feature allows editors to bypass the automatic check for intentionally shortened translations.
To improve user experience, the team implemented plugins for code snippet copying, sticky sidebars for long articles, and search result cleanup. The search filter plugin ensures that users only see results in their selected interface language by hooking into DokuWiki search events.
The company uses two feedback plugins to track documentation quality. Since summer 2025, readers have submitted 194 reviews, with about one-third indicating that information was missing. A separate plugin allows users to report missing topics directly from search results or empty pages.
A specialized plugin synchronizes over 6,000 protocols from VAS Cloud into the wiki using SQLite. The system updates these tables automatically via cron jobs, allowing technical writers to display dynamic, language-specific protocol lists directly within the documentation.
