S7 Airlines has successfully completed the first domestic transfer cargo shipments using electronic air waybills (e-AWB) integrated with the state information system GIS EPD. The pilot flights took place on September 9, covering the Moscow Domodedovo to Novosibirsk and Vladivostok route, followed by a September 10 shipment from Domodedovo to Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg.

The transition to electronic documentation became mandatory for all Russian air cargo market participants starting September 1, 2026. S7 Airlines, supported by its general agent S7 Cargo and partner airports, has been utilizing e-AWB for direct flights since 2021. By August 2026, the airline had processed over 23,000 cargo shipments using this digital format.

According to Elena Tkacheva, Director of the Cargo Department at S7 Airlines, the implementation of end-to-end digital workflows is essential for managing complex transfer logistics. The e-AWB system records critical stages such as security screening and cargo acceptance, ensuring transparent data exchange across all participants and eliminating information gaps during intermediate airport transshipments.
