The Bank of Russia has officially registered the first organizations as digital depositories and cryptocurrency exchanges. This move follows the implementation of the digital currency law that took effect on September 1, 2026.
Five entities were added to the digital depository registry, including VTB, Sber, Atomyze of T-Technologies, Voltari from Web3 Tech, and Cloud Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sistema-Crypto. These firms are now authorized to manage digital assets, record ownership transfers, and provide access to asset address identifiers.
The registry for cryptocurrency exchanges now includes VTB, T-Invest Lab, Sistema-Crypto, and Zefir. These companies are permitted to conduct buy and sell operations for digital currencies on their own behalf and at their own expense, operating outside of organized trading platforms.
All registered participants are required to adhere to established operational standards for digital assets. Furthermore, these organizations must ensure their internal processes fully align with the new regulatory requirements by September 1, 2027.
