Runway announced the launch of App Studio on October 26. The platform allows users to create custom applications for image, video, and audio processing by packaging specific prompts, model sequences, and brand settings into a dedicated interface.
The tool is designed to automate repetitive workflows. Users can build applications that accept specific inputs, such as product photos, and generate consistent outputs based on pre-configured settings. Runway demonstrated this with a 'Product Photos' example, which creates various scenes for a product image.
Architectural firm KPF is cited as an early access partner that uses a custom application to animate static renders by drawing camera trajectories. This interface approach aims to streamline tasks that previously required complex text prompts.
App Studio is available to users on paid subscription plans. The creation, execution, and hosting of these custom applications consume platform credits, with a minimum balance of approximately 700 credits required to initiate the assembly session.
While the tool simplifies the execution of recurring tasks, it does not eliminate the need for manual review of generated content. Users must still verify the quality of outputs, such as product details or video transitions, and ensure compliance with data usage policies.
