Rostelecom has deployed a new base station in the village of Cheremushki, Krasnoyarsk Krai, as part of the federal project to eliminate digital inequality. The infrastructure provides residents with high-speed mobile internet and voice services for the first time.
The village is located approximately 200 km from Krasnoyarsk and is accessible via a reservoir crossing. Due to the challenging terrain, engineers utilized radio-relay technology to transmit signals across a 20 km water gap from a connection point in Primorsk.
According to Alexey Usatov, director of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Rostelecom, the radio-relay line allowed the company to bypass the need for laying fiber-optic cables, providing a faster deployment in a remote area with approximately 500 residents.
The regional government plans to expand connectivity to several other settlements by the end of 2026, including Malobelaya, Malaya Nichka, and Solovyovka. The list of locations was determined through public voting on the Gosuslugi portal and requests via Russian Post.
