Rosatom has completed the first phase of testing for a high-power generator circuit breaker, a critical component for power plants. The project was developed by the company's division, RASU, in collaboration with the All-Russian Electrotechnical Institute (VEI).

Previously, such complex switching equipment was not produced in Russia. Globally, the market for high-power generator circuit breakers has been dominated by two companies for decades: ABB and Siemens. The new Russian device is designed for high-capacity power units.

According to Rosatom, the equipment can support the electricity supply for approximately 800,000 households. The development of this technology also required the creation of new testing infrastructure, which was designed by VEI and the Rosseti Scientific and Technical Center.

The final stage of testing will evaluate the device's ability to withstand overcurrents and manage short-circuit currents to protect generators and main transformers. CEO of RASU, Andrey Butko, stated that this development aims to eliminate reliance on foreign suppliers.
