The commercial data center market in the Moscow region is undergoing a structural transformation. Developers and operators are currently facing significant challenges in securing reliable power supplies, which is hindering the construction of new facilities. Consequently, market participants are forced to reconsider their energy strategies, with some demand shifting toward other regions.
According to CORE.XP analysts, the average annual demand for data center capacity in Moscow and the Moscow region reaches approximately 70 MW. However, supply remains severely restricted. In 2026, several projects were denied grid connection agreements because available capacities are either already in use or reserved by major market players for the 2026–2028 period.
The scarcity of available power is creating uncertainty regarding the launch timelines for new large-scale projects. Experts from CORE.XP suggest that the commissioning of new data centers in the Moscow region may be delayed beyond 2029 due to these infrastructure constraints.
