RKK Energia, a subsidiary of Roscosmos, is currently developing a prototype for the next-generation transport spacecraft, known as PTK NP. According to General Designer Vladimir Solovyov, the team is building a series of test models, including dynamic and flight versions, to validate the spacecraft's design and functionality.

A key phase of the testing involves a helicopter drop test of the descent module. This procedure is designed to evaluate the performance of the new parachute system. This system differs significantly from the one used on Soyuz spacecraft, as the parachute canopy is engineered to deploy at much lower altitudes.

The development of the PTK NP has been ongoing for an extended period due to the integration of numerous new technical solutions. The spacecraft features a different architecture for Earth return compared to the Soyuz series and is designed for distinct operational modes in space.

Following the atmospheric tests, the program will move to space flight trials. The PTK NP is scheduled to be launched as a payload on the Angara rocket carrier to complete its testing cycle.
