Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe confirmed that the upcoming R3 compact SUV will be priced significantly lower than the R2 model. While official pricing is not yet available, the company aims to position the vehicle as a high-volume product in its future lineup.

The R3 will feature two battery options and three motor configurations, including single, dual, and tri-motor setups. Technical targets for the model include a range exceeding 300 miles and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds.

Beyond the R3, Rivian is already planning a further expansion of its portfolio with the R4 model, which is expected to be even more affordable. The company continues to focus on scaling production following the launch of the R2.

Scaringe expressed support for tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles to protect the US automotive industry. He noted that lower labor, capital, and utility costs in China create a competitive imbalance that requires proactive policy measures.
