Ripple introduced GSmart, an AI-integrated solution designed for treasury management. The tool incorporates new policy-governed capabilities for liquidity, risk, reconciliation, forecasting, and reporting tasks.
The system separates financial calculations from AI interpretation. Deterministic engines handle calculations, while AI identifies patterns and explains recommendations. Treasury teams retain final approval authority over all financial actions.
According to Gartner projections cited by Ripple, Fortune 500 companies could utilize over 150,000 AI agents by 2028. However, only 13% of organizations currently report having adequate governance for these agents.
Renaat Ver Eecke, senior vice president of Ripple Treasury, stated that GSmart operates within existing corporate policies to ensure transparency and human oversight. The company describes this approach as treasury-native AI.
The broader financial sector is increasingly adopting autonomous agents. Goldman Sachs is currently developing agents using Anthropic’s Claude for trade accounting, while Lloyds has scheduled enterprise-wide deployment for 2026.
