Ripple has integrated new AI capabilities into its treasury management platform, GSmart. The update introduces policy-governed tools designed to assist treasury teams with liquidity management, risk assessment, financial forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation processes.

The platform architecture separates financial calculations from AI-driven analysis. Deterministic engines perform the underlying math, while AI agents interpret corporate policies and identify patterns. This approach ensures that human teams retain final approval authority over all financial actions.

The company highlights a growing gap between the adoption of AI agents and the maturity of governance frameworks. Citing Gartner projections, Ripple noted that Fortune 500 companies could deploy over 150,000 AI agents by 2028, yet only 13% of firms currently report having adequate governance in place.

The shift toward agentic AI is expanding across the financial sector. Major institutions, including Goldman Sachs and Lloyds, are actively developing autonomous systems for trade accounting, client onboarding, and cash flow optimization, with Lloyds planning enterprise-wide deployment by 2026.
