The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission has issued a Distributed Ledger Technology provider license to Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited. This entity is a newly formed subsidiary of the UK-based fintech firm, designed to facilitate the company's international expansion strategy for digital asset services.

Revolut currently serves over 80 million retail clients globally, with approximately 16 million of them utilizing its cryptocurrency features. The company operates within the UK through Revolut Ltd and across the European Economic Area via Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, which complies with the EU's MiCA regulation.

The company has not disclosed specific target countries or launch timelines for the new services enabled by the Gibraltar license. This development follows previous regulatory milestones, including in-principle approval for crypto services in Dubai in July and preliminary conditional approval in the US in September for digital asset custody and payment services.
