Mastercard has introduced a new service, Stablecoin Security, designed to help banks and payment providers identify suspicious activity in stablecoin transactions. The tool integrates traditional payment data with blockchain analytics to detect potential fraud, scams, and sanctions risks before funds are settled onchain.

The solution provides a risk score for each transaction, allowing financial institutions to flag suspicious transfers for further review. This capability addresses the complexity of tracking funds across multiple wallets and blockchains, which often complicates risk assessment in digital asset payments.

The service was unveiled at the Money20/20 USA conference with Borderless.xyz and Keyrails serving as initial partners. Mastercard plans to make the tool globally available to commercial clients next year.

This initiative follows Mastercard's acquisition of BVNK for $1.8 billion in August and the launch of its Global Money Platform for business stablecoin payments. These moves align with broader industry projections, such as a Standard Chartered report suggesting the stablecoin market could reach $2 trillion by 2030.
