Replit CEO Amjad Masad outlined a strategy of multi-model flexibility to mitigate risks associated with reliance on single AI providers. This approach serves as a hedge against potential competition from labs like Anthropic and OpenAI, which are increasingly developing their own coding tools that target the same user base.
The company has implemented an internal model called the self-driving company since early 2026. AI agents now handle initial triage for support tickets by analyzing GitHub, internal codebases, and Linear, allowing employees to focus on strategic tasks rather than operational queues.
Replit has seen significant financial growth, with revenue rising from $2.8 million in 2024 to a projected annual run-rate approaching $1 billion by 2026. Earlier this year, the company's valuation tripled from $3 billion to $9 billion following a $250 million funding round.
Despite the strategic shift toward model independence, Replit continues to utilize Anthropic’s Claude models for its Agent product, an integration that has been active since 2024. Masad emphasized that the company aims to maintain the ability to swap or combine models as market conditions evolve.
