Renault and Peugeot have introduced electric successors to their iconic Group B rally cars, the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo and the Peugeot 205 T16. The Renault Turbo 3E, which debuted as a concept in 2022, is entering limited production in 2025 with 1,980 units planned. The vehicle features a 535-hp powertrain, a 70-kWh battery, and a rear-wheel-drive configuration, priced at €160 000.

The Renault Turbo 3E utilizes a bespoke aluminum tubular chassis and weighs 1,450 kg. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. Deliveries for the model are scheduled for 2027 across Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia. The interior includes a digital cockpit and a vertical hydraulic handbrake for drifting.

The Peugeot e-T16 concept, unveiled in 2026, is built on the STLA One architecture and may reach production in 2027. It features an all-wheel-drive system with three electric motors producing 816 hp and an 85-kWh battery. The car is estimated to weigh 1,632 kg, achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.5 seconds. Its design includes a 21-inch digital instrument cluster and a Hypersquare steering wheel.

Both vehicles adopt a two-seater layout with roll cages and aggressive aerodynamic elements like splitters and wide fenders. While the Renault maintains a traditional boot, the Peugeot features a tilting rear section to expose its motors and suspension. Both models support fast charging, capable of reaching 80% capacity in approximately 15 minutes.
