The Externum distributed control system (DCS), developed by Reglab, has been officially registered in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade’s industrial product registry. This milestone follows the software's previous inclusion in the Ministry of Digital Development’s registry of domestic software.
The system now meets the criteria for trusted software and hardware complexes as defined by Russian Government Decree No. 1912, issued on November 14, 2023. This designation is critical for compliance, as entities operating within the country's critical information infrastructure are prohibited from using non-trusted systems as of September 1, 2024.
Externum is designed to automate hazardous and continuous industrial processes, including the production of ammonia, urea, and methanol. The platform integrates distributed control with emergency shutdown systems, serving as a domestic alternative to international solutions from vendors such as Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, and Schneider Electric.
The development and initial pilot implementation of the Externum system were carried out as part of a major project for a large chemical holding company. The solution aims to unify industrial management within a single information space to improve production stability and quality.
