Reach Capital, a San Francisco-based venture firm, announced the launch of its fifth fund totaling $265 million. This addition brings the firm’s total assets under management to nearly $1 billion.

Founded in 2015 after spinning out of NewSchools Venture Fund, the firm initially focused on K-12 education technology. Its investment scope has since expanded to include sectors related to learning, health, and work.

The firm has backed more than 180 companies to date. With the new fund, Reach Capital plans to invest in approximately 50 additional teams, focusing on pre-seed, seed, and Series A funding rounds.

Reach Capital has adjusted its investment strategy to prioritize higher initial ownership stakes, aiming for approximately 15 percent upfront. The firm also actively utilizes secondary transactions to provide liquidity to its investors.

The firm’s portfolio includes companies such as ClassDojo, Cartwheel, Stepful, Replit, and WorkWhile. Reach Capital also invested in the AI detection company GPTZero, which was recently acquired by Superhuman.
