Project Ventures, an independent venture capital firm connected to Imperial College London, has introduced its first fund totaling £5 million. The fund focuses on supporting pre-seed and seed-stage startups that specialize in deeptech and artificial intelligence, with a specific interest in robotics, healthcare, climate, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
The firm plans to allocate between £100 000 and £300 000 to each portfolio company. Currently, the fund has already finalized three initial investments in startups including the home energy platform Tewke, the AI-driven metal 3D printing quality assurance firm NexusAM, and the neurotech company Neubond, which develops solutions for stroke rehabilitation.
Managing partner Shahryar Barati, a three-time alumnus of Imperial College, leads the fund. Over 80 percent of the limited partners are also alumni of the university. The organization intends to finalize the fundraising process by the summer of 2027 and is exploring the possibility of expanding its alumni-based investment model to other technical universities across Europe.
