PowerColor is developing a low-profile version of the Radeon RX 9050 graphics card, identified as the RX9050 8GB LP. The half-height design is specifically intended for small form factor PCs and HTPC systems, marking a potential first for this specific model.
The standard RX 9050, released in late July, features 16 RDNA 4 compute units, 1,024 stream processors, and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. It operates with a boost clock of up to 2.6 GHz and a typical board power of 92 W.
The 92 W power requirement exceeds the 75 W limit provided by a standard PCIe slot. Consequently, the new low-profile variant may require an external power connector or necessitate reduced power limits and clock speeds compared to the existing dual-slot Reaper model.
Official details regarding specifications, pricing, and release dates remain unannounced. The original RX 9050 launched at $279 in the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and Latin American markets, suggesting the low-profile version may follow a similar regional distribution strategy.
