Porsche has officially launched its wireless inductive charging system for the Cayenne Electric SUV. The technology allows owners to charge their vehicles by parking over a ground-based pad, eliminating the need for traditional charging cables.

The system consists of a vehicle-mounted pad and a weatherproof ground unit designed for outdoor installation. It supports a charging rate of up to 11 kW with an efficiency of approximately 90 percent, making it suitable for overnight charging.

Safety features include integrated motion sensors and foreign object detection. The system is programmed to automatically halt the charging process if a living creature approaches the vehicle or if metallic objects are detected on the pad.

The wireless charging option is currently available for order in Germany and other European markets. Porsche plans to roll out the technology globally in stages as part of its updated Cayenne Electric lineup.
